The 33-year-old former Bavarian captain was winner in voting, leaving behind Tony Kroos of Real Madrid and Pierre-Emerich Obameyang from Borussia (Dortmund). A total of 885 sports journalists voted in the poll, and 242 placed Lahm in the first position.
